Nash Detention Release Destinations
The Nash County Detention Facility is a county jail operated by the Nash County Sheriff's Office. It is not a North Carolina Department of Adult Correction prison. A person booked here can leave after bond, unsecured bond, recognizance, dismissal, time served, sentence expiration, or another court order. Some people enter a community setting with pretrial or probation conditions. The release summary should identify the authority and actual time.
Other departures are transfers. A person may go to NCDAC, another county jail, the U.S. Marshals Service, ICE, court, a hospital, or another destination. That movement ends physical custody at Nash County Detention Facility but does not prove freedom in the community. Ask for the destination agency by name. Sheriff Staff Services handles records and reports. Research found no dedicated jail-record form, central records email, local copying schedule, or promised response period in the county Form Center. Mail, fax, in-person delivery, and telephone routing are the verified paths.
Nash Jail Record Access
North Carolina Chapter 132 governs inspection and copies of qualifying public records. G.S. 132-6.2 allows actual-cost copy charges and a special service charge in limited circumstances. Ask for electronic delivery and an estimate before a charge is incurred. A custodian does not have to create a record that does not exist and may withhold protected portions while releasing separable public information.
The State Archives sheriff records schedule authorizes destruction of inmate incarceration records three years after release or transfer. It includes entry/release summaries, arrest sheets, court commitment or release orders, and pretrial-release agreements. About Nash Detention Facility
Nash County places the Detention Facility behind the courthouse on West Washington Street in Nashville. The county reports capacity for 259 men and 36 women. It serves local jail functions under the Sheriff's Office and is distinct from the nearby state prison. Its official page discusses visitation, commissary, inmate accounts, and jail operations, but it does not publish a recent-release feed or a standard release procedure.

Nash Jail Expansion History
The county says a 1999 addition supplied 156 spaces to the 139 then available. That local history explains the present facility's scale, but capacity figures do not reveal whether a named person remains in custody. They also do not create a release list. Individual status still comes from the jail, SAVAN event, and entry/release record.
Nearby Nash Correctional Institution has a separate state history that began with a 1938 prison unit and later evolved through advancement and correctional centers. The two facilities sit in the same Nashville area, yet they have different operators, identifiers, databases, and release documents. “Leaving Nash” is too vague for a reliable search. Always ask whether the source means the county jail or the state institution.
Nash EMPACT Release Conditions
EMPACT is a Nash-specific pretrial alternative for selected nonviolent defendants who might otherwise remain in jail. The Sheriff describes satellite monitoring through ankle or belt equipment, with central-station and staff monitoring around the clock. Conditions can include curfews, required destinations, and prohibited places.
Placement outside the secure jail is a physical departure, but EMPACT is not an unconditional discharge or a completed case. Ask whether the release summary and court order identify electronic monitoring. The court file can show conditions while the Sheriff's custody record establishes when the jail processed the change.
Nash Jail and ICE Transfers
A 2018 official ICE 287(g) Jail Enforcement Model agreement documents a historical Nash Sheriff relationship with ICE. It illustrates why a county booking can end through an immigration handoff. Because the agreement is historical, it cannot establish current participation in 2026. Confirm the current agency list before describing any present arrangement.
If the release summary names ICE, search the Online Detainee Locator System. ICE describes that locator as covering current detainees and releases within about 60 days. No official local source states a standard release time, physical exit door, weekend or holiday practice, family waiting area, property-return method, display delay, or transportation arrangement. These gaps should remain explicit. Call about the specific event rather than assuming a midnight, morning, or court-closing schedule.
Tar River Transit's Night Shuttle advertises Nashville service on weekdays from 6 p.m. to midnight, excluding Saturdays and holidays. Neither that service nor a Nashville planning source promises detention-center pickup. Confirm the current stop at 252-972-1174 and arrange a separate pickup if the route does not serve the jail.
Property, identification, medication, supervision instructions, and destination paperwork can affect the first hours after departure. Research found no published Nash policy for those steps. Ask facility staff what can be confirmed for the individual without treating a general answer as part of the official release record.
